Thermoforming Packaging vs Vacuum Packaging

A thermoforming machine and a vacuum packaging machine are both used for packaging products, but they work differently and have different benefits.

A thermoforming machine creates packaging by heating a plastic sheet until it is pliable, then forming it into the desired shape using a mould. This process creates a strong and durable package that can withstand a lot of handling and transportation. The thermoforming machine is able to pack Vacuum, Topseal, SKIN, and MAP (Modified atmosphere packaging). Thermoformed packages can also be designed to have features like euro-holes and semi-rigid packaging, making them useful for a wide range of products.

On the other hand, a vacuum packaging machine creates a package by removing air from a pre-formed bag or pouch, then sealing it. This process creates a tight seal around the product, which helps to preserve freshness and prevent spoilage. MAP is also available on certain models.

In terms of benefits, a thermoforming machine is ideal for products that require protection of the shape such as meatballs. The thermoformed package can protect the product during transportation. Comparatively, thermoforming is used for high-volume production runs, which can lower costs over time.

A vacuum packaging machine, on the other hand, is a more affordable machine. It is ideal for longer products such as fish salmon fillets. It is a good solution for newer companies with smaller production quantities.

In summary, both thermoforming and vacuum packaging machines have their unique benefits, and the choice between them will depend on the specific needs of the product being packaged.
